Sorry but I have to tell you all this one...

I took my sons out this weekemd to hike... It was a special occasion because my youngest was about to lose his virginAT.. Actualy it was his second time, but the first time he had to prematurely evacuate as we only did the AT on the bridge over the Tye River to a campsite....

Anyway, we picked up the AT behind the camp store at Loft Mountain SNP. We headed north in the AT and about 2 miles into the hike we scared 2 bear cubs out of their naps about 4 feet from the trail... My youngest son went absolutely  nuts... The one cub scampered up a tree and just watched us.. I kept waiting for the mom. that never came....  My youngest son was  stoked.... he has written about it in his little journal.. he has called his grandparents, all of his friends, and is going to write to his teacher...

So if you all ever see a book in the store called Losing My VirginAT' by 'Half Pint'... Please buy it.. its for his college tuition....

I guess i should include a little buit about the rest of the hike... We hiked the AT up past the frazier discovery Trail before veering off towards the Ivy Crrek Hut..  we oriceeded tio sky line drive before hooking up with the Frazier Discovery trail.  After doing that loop we retraced the AT south to LOft Mountain Campground...

it was a great 6 mile day hike with the kids...

Very cool trip report.  Spending time in the woods with children makes for great memories.  They will always remember this trip!

LOL...I will keep a look out for the book!!

Some people take the road less traveled.  Some people take the straight and narrow.  I just cut through the woods.

SNP is a good place to go if you want to see some bears. I seen a few when I went through there. That is a great rush.
