a mountain lion watching me from accross the river while i was night fishing last night.  i thought about the two shallow crossings not further than 75 yards away, one above and one below me.  he stayed there and crouched for the longest time.  i stood up, he stood up, i left when he left.  i packed up and walked away slowly praying that he wasn't going for the crossing.  that was the prickliest feeling ever.

I took the canoe out on a local lake to do a little fishing. On my first cast I caught a nice sized pike and thought, oh yea this is going to be good day. I didn't catch anything else the rest of the day. I still had a good time paddling around the lake on a beautiful day.

Went up to Cedar River Flow for the long weekend and fished the bends in the river.  Caught 15 brook trout almost all in the 12 - 15 inch range.  Saw a nice 18"+ brookie, but it saw me first and got spooked and wouldn't hit anything.  Over all a good weekend with perfect weather.

That's kind of scary with the mountain lion, but also cool that critters like that are out there.  We might get 2 inches of rain on Saturday.  If that happens I might be going fishing Sunday.

RichB, is PA in a drought?  If so amazing what a difference a few hundred miles makes.  Water levels up here are just finally dropping down to normal levels.

I don't think it's an official drought, but conditions here in Northeast PA. have been dry. In the last 22 days we've had a quarter inch of rain and most days were hot with low humidity and blazing sun.  The trees are stressed and dropping their leaves in the mountains or just turning yellow.  I noticed a lot of thunderstorms headed up in N.Y. over the past few weeks.  I was hoping they'd make it over here, but didn't.  We might get some good rain tomorrow.

Zac all that rain you had stayed to the north of us for the most part. We did have stretch earlier in the summer where we got showers almost every day but no heavy sustained rain. No where near as dry as it was last year. That was drought. The painters are just finishing up the exterior of my house so this dry spell came at the right time.

Yes, but only an inch locally.  Some other areas got two inches.  It wasn't enough to raise the streams to a decent level.  The ground was so dry that the rain just soaked in the watered the trees and plants.  I went for a hike yesterday since the fishing wasn't there.

i think i'm suffering withdrawals.

I'm hoping to get out and fish over the weekend.  We got another 1.33 inches of rain the other day and more is coming for today.  I don't know what the streams will be like, but I'll go anyway.

That's a shame you can't fish until October.  After this weekend I won't be fishing for a while.  I'm having surgery next week so I'll be out of action until I heal.

i went to the basshole yesterday.  the minnows are wise to the traps now.  i had to scoop them up with my net after sprinkling fish food.  only caught one bass.  it was still worth it.  getting out of the house was good.  i blew almost a gallon of gas i guess though.

not much of anything lately.  just one bass over a week ago.  even the minnows have become difficult to catch now.

I put my fishing gear away until the spring.  Conditions are bad with the dry weather and it's getting cold anyway.
