nothing.

except for my sanity.

night fishing at a nearbye lake.  i guess it was too cold.  52 degrees?  anyway, they were not biting.  still nice to get out of the house for a while.  and listen to the kind of silence you can only find out there.

the sound of water falling over the damn.  little frogs.  really freaking big bullfrogs.  crickets.  coyotes yipping all around you.  animals coming down from the hills for a drink.  things skittering in the bushes.  bright green eyes that watch you.  an animal kill.  (i wonder who got et?)

im going to do this again.  i dont care if it freaks out my husband that i disappear into dark hills all alone.  the solitude is worth it.

Sounds like a fun time even though you didn't catch anything.

I was hoping to go fishing today, but with thunderstorms around, it's not looking good. Maybe tomorrow I'll get out to fish.

I went out fishing this morning, but the conditions are bad and I didn't catch anything.  I didn't stay very long because the water was so low. The fish are spooked and there's just not that many places to cast.  I'll wait until we get some good rains before I go out again.  Who knows when that will be.

i was planning to fish at the lake at the camp, but because cattails had taken it over, the had to drain it and use a liberal amount of herbicide.  the fish are gone.  i haven't fished in weeks.

:(

if i want to fish, i'll have to buy a license and drive up the road several miles.

i've broken the curse!  yesterday i caught a large mouth bass.  later that evening i had a lot of bass take my bait and get away as i was realing them in.  i got ticked off and put the bait on a treble hook.  well, you know you are finished when you have caught a fat catfish and you haven't a glove to take him off of your line.  i wrapped a bandana around my hand to throw him back into the river after i removed the hook from his mouth.  it was a great day!

That's great that you caught some.
I went fly fishing the last two Saturdays.  Yesterday was slow since the creek was low because we had no rain all week.  The Saturday before the creek was up and I caight a bunch of trout.  One of my best days of fly fishing in a while.

You could try catching some in a minnow trap.

i actually made a minnow trap of my own today.  i don't know what one should look like, but mine worked out ok.  i baited it with fish food.  i caught over two dozen.  i kept some and brought them home with some of the river water, i wonder if they will make babies and grow bait for me, LOL!

unfortunately that's all i caught today.  something big took me for hook, line and sinker.  oh well, i still had fun.

That's sounds like a good way to catch them.  I think minnow traps they sell in stores look like two mesh funnels facing each other.  You put the bait in there and the minnows swim in, but can't swim back out.

i cut a water bottle and placed the top part facing into the bottom part and taped it together.  minnows swim in and can't swim out.  the thing is, i get a lot of teeny tiny ones and only a few of the bigger ones.  how do you get all bigger ones?

and gosh, minnows are slippery and squirmy!  makes worms cinchy to bait!
