Tested out NUUN tablets this past week on the AT. It was hot as HELLO. I tend to dehydrate quickly to the point of total nausea. Gatorade tends to pack too heavy for my liking. In the event anyone else is seeking a different drink mix type to replace electrolytes you may want to check out the Nuun tablets. Worked great for me...and if you don't like the taste you can always dump one of the crystal light to go packets in there too for flavor. http://www.nuun.com/index.php

da Pope is a big supporter of NUNs! If gatorade is to heavy for your teeny little tummy, then why not just dilute it down some? Cytomax is another lyte replacer you might try. Yam saved me from bigtime leg cramps on Katahdin with a pack of Ener-C (Gawd Bless her sweet orange bottom!). It only took half a quart and I was back in action.

naww pope. I think the Gatorade dry packs themselves are heavy!
No problem chilimiester.
I got dehydrated from hello on a 20 mile dayhike a few years ago with Wildbill. I was sick for days trying to get my Potassium K level back up. Those lack of potassium cramps are the worst!
Ever since that little jaunt...H20 alone doesn't work for me.

How do they measure up against other single packs of rehydration? Propel etc?

Nuun factoid: the following is the nutritional information for a serving of nuun based on one tablet dissolved in 500ml (~16oz) of water. there are 6 calories per nuun tab.

LTDAN..
I love propel, but not as a source of hydration.. It really isn't much better then straight water as far as controlling cramps etc.
I also use EmergenC.. It has a lot of vitamins etc.
Again, I really don't think that you can compare gatorade to Propel/Emergency.
I usually use the gatorade mix and switch between the gatorade and the propel/emergenC/water... I can see where the mix would weigh more then the NUUN tablets, but not enough for it to make a huge difference...

I started using Gu2O a couple years ago - Gatorade is too sugary for me. I'll check out the NUNS stuff - and Cytomax too this spring. I needed something like that Sunday - postholing thru soft squishy snow in blazing sun kicked my butt and left me withering.

Okay here is the check on NUUN...YEP will be my favorite from now on. Got a couple of packs the other week...KILLER. Works great. I can keep a tube in my firefighting gear for rehydration on the fire ground.
