Damn ... a little dusty 'round these parts.

Did a little foundational wall stabilization project.  It's phase one of the 2010 Foundational Re-enforcement Stimulus Act.

Tier 3 washer is on the way; and with an unexpected stimulus qualification, we'll be upgrading the water heater sooner than expected.  Michigan and some of the energy companies are making efficiency upgrades a lot more attractable.  I saved 200 bucks off the sticker on the washer due to a great sale, then the "clunkers" rebate (a VISA gift card) will pitch in another 50 bucks toward the total cost.  500 bucks total when its all said and done.

I'm looking at the Bradford White line and with some luck, I may be able to get the high efficiency WH for around 375 bucks installed, then I'll get a 100 dollars rebated.  We'll be able to get some tax savings off of the purchases as well, and combined with the saved water and energy; it's looks like we'll recover this investment pretty quick.  I'm really bummed that I don't have enough capital to do geothermal.  However, residential wind power does look doable in some form.

Snow's gonna melt off by Wednesday, I'll bet.  We had a nice little dumping the last week, but I think this is about it.  We usually get a mid-late March dump, but I'm thinking Spring here in the next few weeks.

There's still some stragglers of snow around.  It seems we are about to the end of my favorite season and plowing full steam into my second favorite.  That smell of decomposing flora isn't quite there yet; but it's just around the corner.  With the Tigers in Spring Training mode, and the deadline to sign up #1 for baseball quickly approaching, I think I'm getting a little "Spring Fever".

My candidate for my HSR project fell through, which is a little disappointing.  After multiple attempts of indirect and direct contact, I didn't received any word back.  Seeing that this person is elderly and gets her mail at her daughter's house, my guess is that she's either a snowbird or in the freezer.  So I'll be featuring my moms 1888 Queen Ann instead.

Friday is re-supply day, yea!  My local merchants are awesome.  I'm gonna hit the local candle maker; she's got some great stuff and some cool tats.  I think I'll get some fresh grape leaves and make some hummus for tonight.  Perhaps some BBQ ribs, too.

It's the last stage of the push; almost done for the semester -- then prep for field school.  Only a powerpoint presentation and a small (5 pgs.) paper on a comparison/contrast of American architectural styles left.  A mini breather for today; I've got to get the pp going for Thursday so it's not a total party day.  My pp is my presentation portion of my research project on pressed metal ceilings ("tin ceilings).  It was a really interesting project.

I had serious thoughts about playing hooky on the pp today and head down to the ballpark for the game.  Tigs are not doing all that bad; Johnny Damon and all.  We're not a "pro Damon" household, but I'm starting to warm up a little to him.  I like how he's showing leadership (which we desperately lacked) and how he is working the local press.

Budget woes are hitting the home town hard recently; but that's what you get when you get too fat.   Also, it's what has to happen when "choice" local politicos waste money.

I'll head on down to D-Town proper this afternoon, making sure I take the long route so I don't get tempted by the ballpark, to pick up my prop for my presentation.  A little section of pressed metal ceiling to pass around the crowd for a wow, or two.

Down periscope!

By the way jenny, i'll be spending some time in South Carolina this summer on Kiawah Island. I can't wait!

Anywho......it's one day closer to the weekend and that's a good thing. Gonna check out my daughter's track meet later today and sit there for a couple of hours only to see her do her thing for 2 minutes, if that. She's doing the high jump and the 4x100 relay......Parenthood, ya gotta love it!

Well gang, have a great day!

Good Friday to you and yours!

Grey day around D-Town.  Fucking beautiful yesterday, though -- I think we broke a record for temperature.  The pp went well yesterday.  I was rushed because the two presenters before me took a little longer than they should have.  Also, I didn't get my magic prop on Wednesday.  I stopped by my mother's house on the way down to the architectural salvage yard and our chat took while.  Soooooo, all things considering, it went well, I guess.  Good 'nough.

I've decided to write my paper today, using Second Empire and Richardsonian Romanesque.  These two styles really gets me pants all tight so, why not?  Actually, now that I know what all these structures "are", I've found only one style that I just plain can't stand:  Usonian.  Blech!  The other Modern stuff is alright 9some down right cool), but I just have it in for the "birth mother" of post WWII "ranch" styles.  Also, I've found a new appreciation for Prairie.  I've always thought, well ... still do, that Frank Lloyd Wright was an overrated pretentious cuss, but I've warmed a little.  I'm a softy.

The weekend, as 'loops, is packed for us.  We've got soccer, concert for the kids, doctor's appointments, local benefit concert (that some of my friends are playing in) and perhaps some down time on Sunday.  The good news is that I'm hiking next weekend.  Yeah me!

Monday mornings.....yuck....i'm here and that's about all I can say except i'm ready to crawl under my desk and go back to sleep.....I always thought that Seinfeld episode whereby George gets Jerry's carpenter to build him a "nap nook" under his desk was a great idear....very funny stuff....

What a blustery day in the neighbourhood as Pooh would say especially this past Saturday. I was out cutting the lawn and the wind was biting right through me. Brrrrr. I wasn't diggin' that one bit....

Anywho.....spent yesterday in York PA attending a gymnastics meet. It was a good day for the little Lady. She rebounded very nicely from her last meet and took 2nd AA (1st on Floor & 1st on Vault). The 5th placement on beam hurt her shot at 1st AA. Oh well, that's life and the world of gymnastics....

My cup of java is empty and its time for a refill......I might surpass 29 cups today....

That's IT!

I'm DONE!!

Last project submitted and I don't have to think about school for about a month.  Got an A- in one course so far, now I need to hit big on the other course that counts.

Nice day out today.  Peeps out in the 'Hood walking their doggies and themselves.  Busy with kid stuff, but that ain't no biggie.

Chow!
