F-I-N-A-L-L-Y Friday! I thought it was never going to get here! This weekend will be camping, cleaning, reading, cleaning, reading, maybe some sleeping and eating thrown in there too. Have a great day everyone. Happy birthday, toejam!

Do you know how that is: the moment you lost somebody you realize you will never see or talk to that person again. Suddenly you wish you would have been listening better or would have said things you wanted to say, if only you had known last time would be your last chance to do so for ever. You are left behind, regretting that you weren’t listening, regretting all the things you left unspoken.

euro....i'm not sure who or what your reference is but it made me recall an instance about when my Dad passed away a few years ago and wished I was able to have that last chance to say something or be there before "forever" became a reality.....makes me cry everytime I think about that moment in time......

Been there, did that with both family and personal relationships. Yeah, it sucks, but everything happens for a reason and there is a positive in every negative. We learn from the negatives; they are great teachers of what not to do in the future. Also, how can we know what a positive is if we do not know and experience a negative?
In order to honor the person lost employ those things you would have done with the next person. It does no one any good when one dwells on it, or ask for forgiveness, etc. -- learn and grow.

I understand, Euro. If anything, it's taught me to be a better listener, although I could still use a lot of improvement. :)
If you are seeking forgiveness, it only lies in you, not anyone else. Our own ghosts are the worst.

What a good message to wake up to. I am horrible about keeping in touch with family and friends. Now is as a good a time as any to change that.

Strangly there are two words that never crossed my mind: forgivness and blame. I do not seek forgiveness. Neither do I blame (at least nobody other than myself).
It's truly not guilt I feel, it's regret. I beliefe there is a difference between guilt and regret? Or is it sorrow? (Damnit, such subtle diffrences in words and meaning are the hardest to learn in foreign language)
It's the sorrow over things that can not be changed anymore, that makes my try to do better next time. I feel I still could use a lot of improvment too.

Be easy on yourself. Many of us tend to be harder on ourselves than we need to be. I sorta think you're in that category. You seem to be a good and caring person; extend some of that to yourself.
I call my mother almost every day and tell her I love her. She's 87 years old and harshly judgmental of everyone and everything. Her and my Dad made our lives (my brothers and I) a living hell. Forgiveness is just letting go of all that mess and understanding that her childhood was also not a picnic. In calling her every day, I'm just doing a little preventive medicine because I don't want to do that regret thing later on down the road. I feel a whole lot better these days by taking that simple approach.

Pardon me while I celebrate treasures that don't last...
I had a message on the phone from an insurance company this morning. They are giving me $20,000 for getting knocked off my bicycle last summer. Nice timing since I'm trying to buy a house in California. But I think I'll go ahead and book that trip to climb Mt. Rainier next summer.

Good for you and I'm glad you're okay. With 20K in the pocket, however, you should be able to handle a little smite:)
