It's getting crisp around here, too.  It's a little earlier than past years, but the smells of fall are all around.  I love it.

If the way the weather is any indication for this upcoming fall and winter, gettin` yer wood should be top priority.

Gettin' the wood is always the top priority!

Too obvious for me.  I leave the low hanging fruit for people like Nigal.

Hey, I just happened to stop by and saw it this morning.  Any port in a storm as they say.  :)

I picked the last of the Poblanos yesterday evening and when those finish their "natural" drying out stage, it'll be time to commence this year's version of "Essence". Yes, I can't wait to toss'em in the dehydrator to finish them off! However, between now and then I need to work on the formula (aka the recipe). Last year's version turned out to be an awesome batch. In fact, a chef friend of mind would eat it straight from the jar....he was crazy about it and said this stuff is way better than Mrs Dash....I said....gee thanks for comparing me to Mrs Dash...but me being the mad professor, don't recall how I did it.....Big mistake.....I overlooked writing it down.....what a dope! I remember most of the ingredients but its the quantity....

Oh and there are a couple of Thai pepper bushes still pumping out nice little orange gems....they're great to toss into a stir fry....oh well.....my coffee is cold...time for a refresh..........

I didn't plant a fall garden this year, but many of the plants I let go to seed did that for me quite nicely. I have lots of lettuces, radishes, beets, and a few other things growing along among the weeds I ignored. Oh well. I did want to plant more onions; I may go ahead and start the seeds, and put a row cover over that bed to warm them up and protect them.

My garden was put to bed a couple weeks ago, waiting for some snow now, may get a bit with the forecast.  The bear(s) didn't get all my apples, I put some in the crisper until I find the energy to dehydrate them.  Waiting for people to come up with money to buy some firewood from me. sold a couple cords already.

it's official, the pepper garden has been terminated....whilst burning leaves, I yanked up all remaining plants and took whatever peppers I could salvage....it was a bit frosty the night before making them wilt....i'd say they didn't like it....by the way, burning leaves is very smoky.....and eye hits are the worst.....ok carry on folks....

For some reason, the last of my carrots never get dug up until I make a stew, then I have to dig thru the snow to get to them.

I have more lettuce, beets, parsley, and cabbages than I know what to do with. I haven't planted cabbages since spring, either. After I cut off the heads they re-headed. I found a carrot hanging out too. Better than all those nasty weeds. The radishes coming up in the lawn are kind of funny, too. I don't think I'm going to grow any cos type lettuce (romaine) again. It bolts way too easily. My football sized sweet potatoes are hardening off out in the garage. Not as big a crop as last year, but then I neglected the garden pretty bad this year. I'm amazed I got around 25 lb. of potatoes.
