A group of us from the Northern CA Hiking group are doing a southern portion of John Muir Trail August 29 thru Sept 5th probably not too far for you! Entering in at Onion Lake TH, doing Rae Lakes loop & a bunch of select trails.... Lake Marjorie, Palisade Lake, etc. I have extra space on my permit, there will be at least 8 of us!

it sounds awesome! this is the trick, school begins in my current school district on August 18th. i am actually hoping to find a job in the school district where i have moved to, but they begin on August 24th. either way it doesn't really work. i could, if i have some money, meet you there for the weekend.

weekends are good! if i am working in my current school district i have a long weekend beginning Thursday October 29th. the other school district shows no long weekends in October. of course my plan is to have a job in the closer school district so i'm not sure i can promise you a long weekend yet. driving 25 miles away to work is a hardship.
