REI is having a pretty big, super clearance sale right now.  Odd sizes, but some stuff is really good.

Has anyone ordered and has had any interaction with the gear retailer "Mountain Gear" out of Spokane Valley, Washington?  I just got there unsolicited gear catalog in the mail and I am pretty impressed with their prices.

What is their customer service like?

I have been around them when they come to the rock climbing festival's in the Red River Gorge several times the past few years. They always bring lots of gear to show and demo. Seem like really nice folks, and have top notch gear.

Yea, that was one of the things that caught my eye was the name-brand stuff, but I was wondering if was imperfections, seconds, etc. that they were selling because of the prices.

If there are doing that type of outreach, then they seem to be some what legit and not some fly-by-night gear place that is common today.

REI's used gear  sale is always a good place to get  gear cheaply (you just have to look carefully and know when you are getting a good deal).  In Massachusetts the used gear (aka garage) sale is this Saturday (11/6).

I've shown up at the g-sales a few hours past prime and still walk out with deals.

The Feb REI sale was nuts.. hundreds of people out early - groups stuffing carts full of stuff and then sorting it out in a corner.  Pretty intense - I think it was lots of skiers on tight budgets.
