The North Face
The North Face is a popular manufacturer of outdoor equipment. They have a full line of outdoor clothing, Backpacks, Tents, Sleeping Bags and shoes. The North Face was founded in 1968 in San Fransisco, California by Douglas Tompkins and Kenneth Klopp as a retail store. The partners soon aquired the name, The North Face, for their store. In the northern hemisphere, the north face of a mountain is usually the steepest and coldest side of a mountain. In 1998, VF Corporation bought The North Face from Tompkins.
