So, I think Rosey has lyme disease or another tick carried disease. She hasn't really been eating for the last couple of days, limping and is lethargic. When I went home at lunch, I noticed a HUGE freakin' tick on her face that had finally showed iteself from under her fur, big nasty, green mucus butt that is all swollen. I had called and made a dr.'s appt. but when I foudn the tick, I called up and they are seeing ehr right away.
Damn ticks!
Damn ticks!

Hey. thanks for asking. They say no Lyme. It's a rather convoluted series of events. She has Cushing's disease, which could be causing the problems and requires a blood workup to determine how the medication is working. Too much meds could cause this reaction. More tests. More time. More money. Blah, blah, blah. Hopefully we can get it sorted.
I know she is hungry again because she went outside at 3 a.m. and started digging up one of her long buried bones. Since she wasn't supposed to eat for 12 hours before the test, I had to bring her in. Dogs are funny.

it is hard to get a grip on things like that with dogs but when they do it all falls into place.

My koi are loving their new home in the pond. All along, they've been these paranoid, spooky things, and now they loll about and come right up to you looking for food. One of my neighbors came by to see the fish yesterday, and brought her older boxer. The dog was very confused, with this look of "what the heck is swimming in my big water bowl?"

I have heard Joe Cocker always felt like an outsider as a kid, because in his family they were all boxer.
I'm not bad, I'm just drawn that way!

We have a skink (variety I'm not familiar with) whose taken up residence just outside the back door. He scuttles under the deck every time someone goes in or out of the door. The koi are feisty today; I haven't fed them yet this morning.
