This is woodstock camping 1/2 mile from town. There are restaurants in town and food venders at the street fair. I don't think anyone sales food at the campground. Wildbill and I always bring a couple bushels of oysters, some shrimp, and a couple hundred clams that we cook and put out for anyone in the group that wants it. we usually cook sporadically whenever the mood strikes us. It can be continuous flow or it might be hours in between while we visit the town. We take monetary contributions if you want to help out, but its not a requirement so you can eat as much of that as you wish. We usually have some snow crab legs for his wife, but we keep that on the down low :).
Other people cook other stuff too, but I can't speak for them about there sharing policy. In the past Fridge and Calm have brought sausage biscuits to us in the morning. Nice folks those two.
There's not much chance of going hungry at trail days. Some people eat in town the whole time, others cook like they are on the trail, some do both. Whatever floats your boat.

A day of
unending uphill,
switchback after switchback,
broken strap on your pack,
bent hiking pole,
blister on your big toe,
and drank all your water
Any of those days in the backcountry are better than a day at the office!!

In looking at the calendar, it dawned on me that my son's graduation is the night of the 16th..halfway between Nashville and Memphis. It doesn't start until 8PM. I doubt I will try to cover all that distance to make Trail Days.

Anybody interested in an overnighter on the AT after Trail Daze? I am thinking about hiking north starting at Fox Creek to Sugar Grove, a distance of about 23 miles. Start on Sunday, end Monday.

It is with a heavy heart that I even consider missing this party.
I can not get off Sunday, May 18 and having to bail out Saturday evening and drive 450 miles home after a short weekend is not a pleasant thought.
That is right in the midst of our round-the-clock-for-finals for about ten days and nobody is goin' nowhere.
The cost of gazoline is makin' this kinda 800+ mile round trip might pricey as well.
Perhaps I can carpool on down to Mount Rogers or someplace for Memorial Day weekend with some of The Yankees.
Yippee Kai-Yay, mutherpussbucket!!

yo sweetpea......stop by Avon, NC sometime this summer then grab one of extra boards and then run like a maniac towards the ocean, dive in and we'll have some fun with the waves........then after a day of riding water, we'll dig a pit in the sand, build a fire and share a bottle of wine.....that's my typical day on the beach!

Each time I find myself on the beach, I stoop, put my fingers in the Saltwater and then TASTE the ocean....
So far I've tasted the Atlantic, Pacific, the Med, North Sea, Sea of Marmara, Gulf of Mexico,Caribbean Sea, Indian Ocean, Bearing Sea and the Arctic Ocean...
I'd be pickled in Salt if I had done all those in a short timeframe...LOL.
