It was a bad winter. When I wasn't sick, I had other obligations.
"As a man tramps the woods to the lake he knows he will find pines and lilies, blue herons and golden shiners, shadows on the rocks and the glint of light on the wavelets, just as they were in the summer of 1354, as they will be in 2054 and beyond. He can stand on a rock by the shore and be in a past he could not have known, in a future he will never see. He can be a part of time that was and time yet to come."

Yeah, I mean car camping is kinda cool. I went through my whole, I will never car camp again phase, but then I rediscovered its virtues. It still doesn't hold a candle to backcountry IMHO, but it does have some perks as long as it is in a good locale on not on the side of the interstate or something...

I like me some car camping.. nothing wrong with that.
PA has great state parks and the campgrounds are super schweet.
I can't wait until later sping and summer, perhaps we'll try and take the baby car camping.

ENS...bit of advice if I may, set up the tent in the living room so Junior can get used to it. NO CHEEt um my friends took their 3 year old on a hike and he spent the two nights slapping the side of the tent for the noise.
UM lets see, 2 in January, what....7 in March. So lets go with 9.
OKAY granted just two are Trail Nights...but they were MORE than worth it. The rest of the time I have been trying to train new potential hikers...and it is going well.
ENS what do you want to know about the Southern Mountains? (LOL)

I got 2 early in January and thought I was off to a good start. More like a good stall .... but I plan to get 3 more night in a few weeks at Dragons Tooth/Tinker Cliffs as long as my wife does dream up some emergency that requires my presence.

I need to line some up. After the wife got dragged out on a 15 miler last weekend, I'm not sure she can do overnighters anymore. I'm thinking a car camp in the redwoods with a couple of nice day hikes.

I've had two so far, but details are not necessary...

2 more last weekend with a 25 mile hike, and 2 more planned for next weekend with 10-15 miles of hiking thrown in...
I will probably be camping in SNP @ Big Meadows if anyone is in the area... I'll have my kids with me so we will either be doing some day hikes or a short out and back on the AT..

McAfee Knob is in Virginia, y'all.
I should do Pennsylvania next in an effort to share myself with as many states as I can this year.
Hell, Merryland is close at hand with the Appalachian Trail anywhere from 60-80 miles from my shack.
