Ok! Here is the thread...
Thunderswamp trail this weekend. There's a small lot of us meeting around 6pm at the 402 trailhead on Friday for an itty bitty overnight followed by about 19 miles done over Sat & Sun.
Easy, relaxed, and Poconos flat. No mountaineering gear needed. ;)
Need to get out? Come with.

Yup...............
Grrr, as in.........."yum-yum, I would love to hike that hike."
I got home late last night from 24 miles of riding the ridges on the AT near Roanoke.
That was some wicked up and down and some of the prettiest sights.
I'm still walkin' a bit funny.
Have fun!!

Just did that trail 2 weeks ago.
Flintstone "secret site" is posted, and the bridge is still out at Saw Creek.
I had a fun almost waist-high creek crossing there!
Even some of the smaller creeks were a little tricky.
Course it had been raining up there for a couple of days...
TONS of blowdowns on the trail too, that just adds to the fun!
Have a great time

Interesting. Thanks!
I wonder what Saw Creek has in store for us this time? ;)
Tick levels? Of all the trails, this one gives me the heebies the most.

Yeah. We saw that on a Bonehead trip not long after it was put up.
They were very enthusiastic with the signage all along the boundary in that area.
Like anyone would tresspass! sheesh.

I think the sites out on the island are the bestest.
Nice soft bed of pine needles
They don't own the island!
Course you might have to wade out there.....
Have a great trip.
I'd join ya but my daughter is taking me to Atlantic City this weekend

Make me a high whorl dropspindle? A MarkO original. I'll be the only girl who has one and the other girls will envy me. :)
I'll knit you stuff...
Can you work with a synthetic resin in your shop? Some time ago on a backpacking trip I managed to snap the dowel on my fav spindle above the whorl. The man who made it is no longer in the biz. The broken end needs to be trimmed and the brass hook needs to be freed up and reattached.
I don't have any tools here I'm comfortable cutting resin with.
Just asking. I don't know anyone else who might have the right tools.

Saw Creek was very low. We rock hopped across a couple yards upstream from where the bridge used to be.
The ticks are just getting started. I think we brushed off a total of 5 on Sat. Still early in the season.
Yes, we survived brilliantly in spite of a bruise or two.

However, rock hopping Saw Creek is just wrong.
I guess there were no blackfly issues? I was in the Gap on Wed and got crucified by them.

That rock hop spot a few yards upstream from the old bridge crossing was where I crossed a few weeks ago in almost waist deep water!
See any turkey hunters on Sat morning?

It's much easier without the waist deep water. ;)
Yes we did. 6 turkey hunters who were none too happy to meet us bopping along like we belonged there.
On Sunday morning we woke up to the sound of a tom gobbling away like he was the only bird in the 'swamp. It was fitting.

Thats funny about the Tom They seem to have a way of knowing when it's hunting season.
You would have enjoyed that crossing MarkO
I'm sure it was an easy rock hop
It was a little harder when I couldn't see where the rocks were, and I hadn't done that part of the trail before.
