Hello all my fellow TT brethern.
I have been banned. It was nice meeting most of you, and getting to know you via TT over the past 7 years, but alas, I've been forced against my will to move on and find other ways to waste valuable time during my day. I wish you all the best of luck, and hope to see y'all on the trail again one day soon. Please send these sentiments to other TT'rs, for some didn't list thier email addy's. I leave you with this:
1. "Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely excercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive." - CS Lewis
2. The Ohio State Buckeyes are #1, Florida got lucky twice last year.
3. See the email that ended it all below, and finally......
4. That's it, I'm leaving TT, goodbye to all my friends, and all my enemies can kiss by stupid-liberal-crack-munching-baby ASS!
Peace,
Buddha Bear
PS - Although Buddha Bear may be dead, the ghost of buddha has left one final message, but in name only.
I think you meant to say "If you <had> decide<d> to control yourself a bit, this would not have happened. ...."
BTW - It's a backpacking COMMUNITY forum. When people actually backpack with a COMMUNITY of backpackers, various topics are discussed both on the trail, and around the campfire. In these live discussion groups, if a topic rubs somebody the wrong way, and something is said, normally the topic changes. In TT you have the opportunity to ignore posters whom you disagree with, or are offended by. In short, there is NEVER a good reason to ban speech, either on the trail nor off the trail. I've met over 120 TT'rs over the 7 years I've contributed to the site. The reasons you are banning me is not taking me or threads away from them, it's taking away thier virtual downtime around the fire. Your decision to ban threads that you don't like is just one more reason that we need to keep the internet, and websites on the internet, free of corporate america.
Please be advised to remove any articles penned by Jay Demagall from the articles section of thebackpacker.com, or you will be hearing from my lawyer.
Good luck with your new "Big Brother" website, I'm sure it will be real successful.

If you decide to control yourself a bit, this would not have happened. Matt let it go too far. This is a BackPacking site. Not a flaming site.

Whoooohoooooo
Smells like lime jello over here
Smells like lime jello over here
A day of
unending uphill,
switchback after switchback,
broken strap on your pack,
bent hiking pole,
blister on your big toe,
and drank all your water
Any of those days in the backcountry are better than a day at the office!!

What's REALLY hilarious is how a day hasn't gone by in the last 6 months where you haven't uttered my name ('S-rge', 'He who shall Not be named', etc..) since I asked to be banned from trailtalk.

Told ya so.
The last thing the new owners want is a decrease in traffic so ANYTHING that might threaten an increase in additional usage will be squashed. Lets face it, TT weeds out new posters at a very high rate.

Let us quote Lucretius
"Whenever a thing changes and alters its nature, at that moment comes the death of what it was before."
And so it is with thebackpacker.com. Let the thing wither and die if it must. I'm an old TTer now using my real name. If you know me, you'll know who I was/am over there. If you don't know who I was/am, just call me bob.
BTW, there was a time long ago when I was multiple "persons" over there. Those were great days and a helluva lot more entertaining than the current fare at TT. But those days are long gone and we're here at LO. Let the good times roll!

"Ticks"? That's too kind. If you brush off ticks and walk away you're usually free of them. We're more like a disease, I would say. Took your meds and thought you beat it. But Some more resistant bugs were immune.....or integrated into your DNA.............waiting for another opportunity..........
