Osprey Atmos 50 Pack Details
How Moosejaw describes the Atmos 50 PackThe Atmos 50 by Osprey is for fastpacking - overnight to an entire hike of the AT.The all-new Atmos Series addresses the ultralight revolution as only Osprey could - with a suspension that really carries weight - and fabrics and materials that will realistically stand up to the rigors of use. The AirSpeed suspension sets the Atmos Series above all other ultralight packs. The Atmos frame is 6005-T6 alloy aluminum with two 6 in. x 5mm fiberglass struts providing flex in the middle. Unlike other mesh tensioned backpanels that are simply flat panels suspended from 4 tensioned corners of an X-frame - this panel is 3D contoured. Additionally - there is a lumbar contour at the bottom and the backpanel follows a back curvature. All contact surfaces are either breathable mesh or perforated - molded waffle foam. The backpanel supports the load well because it is under drum-like tension. When wearing the pack - rather than compressing the load with comp straps at the hips - the back sinks evenly into the lumbar area providing comfortable uniform pressure with no hot spots. With durable 210D fabrics and a weight range of 1 lb. - 15 oz to 2 lb. - 13 oz. these packs are both light and strong. Two quick release web straps at the top end of the inside of the backpanel provide attachment for your hydration bladder. These straps slide on the aluminum tubing at the top and can be positioned on center or two hole connection points. A central exit for the hydration tube allows routing to either the right or left shoulder strap. The hipbelt and shoulder pads are a waffle molded EVA with perforations. This allows for minimal surface contact and superb ventilation. The hipbelt has a mesh zippered pocket on each side for quick access to energy gel and the like. On the front of the pack - you'll find stretch woven lycra front and side pockets and welded water resistant zippers. Specifications Small: Volume cu.in./liters: 2800/47. How REI describes the Atmos 50 Pack
Up to 30% Savings during the REI Fall Sale! Plus members save 20% on one full price item. One of the most rigorously designed packs on the market, the lightweight Osprey Atmos 50 sets a new standard in comfort for lightweight backpacking. Top-loading design with a floating lid pocket allows extensive gear storage. Features twin front slash pockets with water-resistant welded zippers, stretch-woven front and side pockets and zippered mesh pockets on hipbelt. New easy path zippers make it simple to open the hipbelt pockets with one hand. Osprey AirSpeed suspension features an aluminum alloy frame and titanium torsion rods for support yet flexibility while carrying heavy loads. Anchoring to the lumbar area, the suspension provides uniform pressure with no hot spots. ErgoPull hipbelt closure provides extra leverage in cinching, drawing tension along top and bottom--not through the center--relieving hipbone pressure. Thermo-formed and perforated waffle-pattern shoulder straps and hipbelt save weight and enhance breathability. Hydration-compatible design features hydration tube portholes and uses cavity behind mesh backpanel to hold reservoir (sold separately). Daisy chain with removable shockcord clips let you attach a bungee cord for lashing on extra gear. Removable sleeping pad straps.
