Ortovox S1 Avalanche Transceiver

The Ortovox S1 Avalanche Transceiver uses a sensor-controlled search, graphic real-time screen, and temperature readings to search for up to four victims at once.

The latest in transceiver technology, the Ortovox S1 sensor-controlled transceiver displays real time visual information for quick, simple searching. Electromagnetic sensors map victims' locations and depths in relation to the searcher on the LCD screen. Display information is adjusted in real time according to the movement of the transceiver. Transceiver provides information for up to four transmitters, including search direction and distance from the searcher. Switching from transmitting mode to search mode is as simple as pushing a button to open the clamshell device. Upon reaching a victim, the searcher can mark the found victim and immediately set out for other burials by simply following the visual data. Marking victims forces the transceiver to stop receiving the marked signal and focus on any remaining signals. Once within 3m of the victim, S1 switches to pinpoint search mode, featuring a new, patented circle-interpretation visual for fast results. Selectable functions include temperature, slope angle, digital compass and burial depth. Compatible with all standardized avalanche beacons operating on the 457 kHz frequency. S1 automatically switches back to transmit mode from all other modes after a user-defined amount of time. Auto switch-back provides safety should a second avalanche occur. Includes a shoulder strap for proper transportation. Operates on three AAA alkaline batteries, included.
