It's isn't waterproof like other Ascent Outerwear, but it offers an amazing warmth-to-weight ratio in a breathable, wind-resistant package. Unlike most conventional fleece, Polartec Power Shield fabric is exceptionally resilient to wear and won't snag like other fabric designs. The Gamma MX is suitable for mountaineering or ice climbing under blue bird skies and it's practically bulletproof when layered beneath a waterproof, breathable shell like the Arc'teryx Theta AR Jacket or the Beta AR Jacket. If you're into gear and gadgets, you'll appreciate the five storage pockets--more carrying capacity than most Ascent outerwear--including a sleeve radio pocket.
